February Differences Awareness!
In this month of February the main differences assigned to this month are: International Angelman Day on February 15, and Rare Disease Day on February 28th.
International Angelman Day is to raise awareness of Angelman Syndrome. Angelman syndrome is a complex genetic disorder that primarily affects the nervous system. It can create issues such as delayed development, intellectual disability, severe speech impairment, and problems with movement and balance (ataxia). These are just a few things that it can/does cause and affect. This condition like many need a medical diagnosis. Medications can sometimes be used to help treat this difference, but it is not a curable difference.
Rare Disease Day is an event held on the last day of February every year to raise awareness of rare diseases. A rare disease, also referred to as an orphan disease, is any disorder that affects a small percentage of the population. Although the disease may be rare, patients and families share a common struggle.
It is important to remember everyone with differences of any kind all they want is to be loved and appreciated like everyone else! They are just as worthy as everyone else to be loved and honored for who they are!
This concludes Februaries differences awareness post! Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for your support!
