At the age of 22, right before my 23rd birthday I took a chance, and made a big life decision. I decided to take on owning and opening my own business. After having my own personal blog for a year or two before this decision was made, I knew a bit of what I was getting myself into. Now, at the age of 25, I am the owner of two businesses. Two very different careers, yet both of which are fulfilling to do. At the time of writing this I am in the mere fetal stages of my second business beginning but giving it the same dedication as I did the first one. All while also taking the challenges of both head on. I am basically writing a “Diary of a CEO” type post right now. At least that’s basically what it is.
Owning your own business is no joke and no walk in the park. I knew that prior to beginning these journeys, because I was blessed to have several entrepreneurs around me. Even knowing ahead of time that it isn’t the easiest path to take, it still doesn’t make the challenging times easier. Haha! You must walk through the fire head on and get yourself to the other side. The financial insecurity is real! It’s hard financially when you’re starting out, because the start-up fees to get your business(es) off the ground is no small feat. The economy we are in certainly doesn’t help with that either. I knew going into these decisions that getting clients is one of the hardest parts of owning your own business. Yet, another really hard part is creating, and maintaining an output of content without getting burnt out. All you can do is hope, pray, and ask the Universe and God for what you want and need, and let the rest take its course. But waiting and trusting the process is its own challenge!
To anyone who may be considering starting your own business, do it! It is one of the most rewarding things! But, also, do not forget to really consider what that entails. It isn’t a situation of just opening something and expecting results immediately. You will have to work at it, it will be hard and have challenges, but it is also incredibly rewarding! I have played with the idea of doing a blog series with the label of “Diaries of A CEO” or something like that. If that name isn't one that's taken already by something or someone else.
